At Great Dane Rescue of Minnesota & Wisconsin, we believe in finding the right home for every dog, not just the first available one. Our application process helps us get to know you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a four-legged family member.

A Few Things to Know Before You Apply
Application Fee: A $25 nonrefundable application fee is required before we can begin processing your application. You’ll be prompted to submit payment at the end of the application.
Processing Time: We’re a small team of dedicated volunteers, and applications typically take 2–6 weeks to process. We appreciate your patience while we complete the necessary steps to make thoughtful, responsible placements.

A few simple things can help avoid unnecessary delays:
- Complete all application questions thoroughly and honestly.
- Give your personal and veterinary references a heads-up that we’ll be contacting them.
- Encourage your references to respond promptly when our volunteers reach out.
Important Adoption Requirements
Before submitting your application, please make sure you meet these two essential requirements:
- You must live in Minnesota or Wisconsin. We do not adopt dogs outside these two states.
- Children living in the home must be at least eight years old. We cannot approve households with children under eight.

Don’t See Your Perfect Dane Yet? That’s Okay!
You don’t have to wait until a particular dog catches your eye to get started.
In fact, having an approved application already on file can make things much easier when the right Great Dane comes into rescue.
Just remember, completing an application or receiving approval doesn’t guarantee adoption of a specific dog. We carefully consider each dog’s needs and each family’s circumstances to find the best possible match.
